Marie Claire - "Delicate Mediterranean Touches for a Soft and Livable Haussmannian Apartment"

Charline and Antoine have found their Parisian pied-à-terre on the edge of Place de la République. With Hélène Pinaud and Julien Schwartzmann from the Heju studio, they are revolutionizing the apartment to create a luminous space punctuated by fiery accents.

Rediscovering Paris... tired of constant back and forth between the Portuguese capital, where he lives, and the French one, Antoine considers getting a Parisian pied-à-terre that will allow, among other things, Gaspard and Solal, 9 and 6 years old, to come on vacation. The trigger happens while browsing Instagram: he discovers the work of Hélène Pinaud and Julien Schwartzmann, the interior architects duo from the Heju studio. Exactly what his wife Charline and he love! Now, they just need to find a family apartment, preferably Haussmann-style, and bright.

Contrasting colors and materials, mistresses of the 140 m2 space.

They come across a rare gem on Place de la République, a "central and lively" neighborhood that they like, with this 140 m2 corner apartment located on the 3rd floor which, thanks to its unique triangular plan, has many windows. It feels like being on an island, alone and without vis-à-vis: a dream almost unattainable in Paris! Left untouched for decades, the place is dark. Hélène and Julien have everything repainted in white, to bring back clarity. The duo then injects touches of warm colors through materials (terracotta, terrazzo, wood...), but also through some areas of paint to highlight details (shelves, headboard, fireplace, etc.). Finally, they play with contrasts by mixing straight lines and curves (like the arch between the kitchen and the dining room) and by creating levels (such as the step to access the bow window). A sober and warm universe at the same time, a perfect link between Antoine and Charline's daily life in Lisbon and their Parisian retreat!

Designed by the Heju studio, the custom-made desk on which Antoine spends a lot of time when he is in Paris had to be quirky. Its metal base forms a wave that echoes the patterns on the floor of the adjoining bathroom. Brass lamp, Bert Frank. Chair, &Tradition. On the wall, art curation by Amélie Maison d'Art. Rug, Élitis.
